Silke Neumann's Apartment

Sit back and let me take you on a little tour of the amazing Berlin apartment belonging to Silke Neumann. Silke owns agency Bureau N and works in communication with a focus on PR, specialising in art, culture, design and architecture. These are the people and subjects that excite her, and she often throws dinner parties at her apartment inviting people from these fields. If you want to see and read more about Silke and her apartment, go here. As you can imagine, the neon pink wall is my favourite feature!

Alice in Wonderland Collection

This posting is especially for my lovely blogger friend, Santa from Homestilo - be sure to check out her fantastic blog. She was interested in my powder coated deer, so I thought I would show her, and all of you, where I got my inspiration from.

This is the 'Alice in Wonderland' collection created by Aroha Lewin & Zekiah Heath. Together they scoured second hand shops in search of once loved metal objects. They wanted to bring these beautiful old objects into today's world, breathe new life into them. By resurfacing the objects in bright colours it re-contextualises them, and makes them new again. I love the idea of taking old objects and making them contemporary, and I think they are simply stunning. What do you think?

Complimentary Gift

I've had a fantastic weekend. The Market on Saturday was great and I met lots of wonderful people. It was my best friend's birthday, and we drank bubbles and cheered on our mighty All Blacks. Then we finished off spending Sunday afternoon and evening with friends at their beautiful home in the Havelock hills overlooking most of Hawke's Bay.

Because it's Spring, and their are a plethora of birthdays at this time of year, I am giving a complimentary Cath Kidston bookmark or magnet set this week, to all orders over $30 (not including shipping, one gift per order). These gorgeous gifts would also make lovely stocking stuffers, because Christmas will be here before you know it. If you've had your eye on something special, now is the time to buy it.

Deer, Oh Dear!

I've mentioned before that I have a soft spot for decorating with deer. And the pink deer below are on my wish list, when they are back in stock. So I was thrilled when I found a stag and doe quite similar to the pink ones on TradeMe. They were, however, brass, and although I know some people may be horrified, I had them powder coated a lovely bright yellow. I am so happy with them, and don't they look great with the gorgeous portrait of me?! Hope you all have an awesome weekend, and don't forget, all you Hawke's Bay people, to check out the Craft & Design Market tomorrow morning.

Norman Rockwell

I have always been fascinated by Norman Rockwell's beautiful illustrations. As a young girl I spent hours pouring over my grandfather's - Nooks' - Norman Rockwell books. One of my most favourite pictures is the one of the little girl looking at her reflection in the mirror.
Today I found some photos my gorgeous 'big' girl had taken of herself on my computer. She's growing up so fast, and they reminded me of "Girl in the Mirror'. Just like her, dolls are being cast aside in favour of lipstick (she likes to 'borrow' mine) and movie stars, although Selena Gomez, not Jane Russell!

Craft & Design Market

I'm really excited... this Saturday I will be manning a stall at the fabulous Craft & Design Market in Havelock North. I'm going to be showing my dog beds, as the photos just don't do them justice - you really have to see them, feel how soft & comfy they are. I've been to many craft markets before, but this is the first time I will be selling something - just a wee bit nervous. I'm taking my beautiful Sam so she can sit nicely under my table modeling her own bed, with her trademark smile - just like this...

I went to the first of these Havelock Markets and it was excellent, with really great products. I believe it has grown quite a bit since then, and this one on Saturday is only their third. If you're local, do come and check it out, it's right next to Hawthorne Coffee Shop.
On that note, all local Hawke's Bay people... If there's anything you're interested in the Cush & Nooks online store, I am happy to arrange pick up or delivery to save you on courier costs. Just email me, and we'll work it out. Vic xxx

Mellow Yellow

I love this time of year - Spring flowers are emerging, the days are getting warmer, and, with daylight savings starting this weekend, it'll be bbqs and alfresco dining most nights. Yellow is the traditional colour of Spring, and it's a colour I'm back in favour with - I love seeing a splash of yellow in the home, maybe in a cushion, or some art. It also looks fantastic with my two favourite colours - magenta and turquoise.

Morocco, I love you

My little bro has been to Morocco, and it is on my list of must-visit places, along with Scandinavia, New York, Spain & India (oh, and I want to go back to Italy). I love the Moroccans use of rich colours & patterns, and (in my opinion) nobody does alfresco better!

Plum Pretty Sugar

My new pillow cases arrived today, all the way from Plum Pretty Sugar in America. I'm so happy with them, and they look great with the Kantha quilt we have on the end of our bed (see last photo). My next purchase will be either one of their divine silk robes, or cute tunics, or maybe both!
