Ryan Gosling Inspired Homes

Ok, so who else out there likes the movie "The Notebook"? It is one of my all time favourites. I've lost count of the number of times I've watched it (and cried every time!), I am such a romantic sook! And Ryan Gosling is pretty damn cute - don't you think? So I had to smile when I saw this article over at Apartment Therapy about homes inspired by his stylish outifts! Which is your favourite? Pop over here to see a couple more.

Soft Palette - Scandi Style

Following on from my softer colour palette from yesterday, I wanted to show you another fabulous Scandinavian home full of quirky loveliness. True to Scandinavian style they use a crisp white backdrop to display their furniture, artwork, and lovely bits & pieces.

Softer Palette

Happy start of the week everyone, I hope it's a good one so far. I'm usually a great advocate for colour, the brighter the better. But today I'm really enjoying the softer colours used in these rooms. I find them very restful.

Lovely Lemon Cake

My awesome father-n-law, Pete, gave me a big bag of lemons yesterday, so I thought I would use a few of them to make my favourite lemon cake. It's an absolute gem, this recipe. I like the fact that you don't have to fuss with icing (or frosting for all you Northern hemisphere peeps). It's yummy on it's own with a coffee, or serve it with berries and yoghurt on the side for dessert. Delicious!

Vic's Lemon Yogurt Cake:
1 1/4 cups of sugar
1 cup canola oil
rind of 2 lemons
2-3 tablespoons of lemon juice
2 large eggs
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 cup plain yoghurt
2 cups self raising flour
for top of cake:
1/4 cup lemon juice
2 tablespoons of sugar

Beat sugar, oil, rind, juice, eggs and salt. Add yoghurt and combine. Carefully stir in the sifted flour. Pour mixture into lined cake tin. Bake at 150°C for about 50 minutes. When the cake is cooked, pour extra lemon juice on top and sprinkle with sugar. Enjoy.

How I would love a new Kitchen!

We have been in our home for about six years now, and it's slowly transforming into the home we always knew it could be. It's a continual work-in-progress, as I think most homes are, and I like that it's growing with us. But one thing that we haven't really touched is the kitchen.
I can't wait to give it a much needed face lift.

I was inspired by this kitchen (via my friend Santa @ Homestilo). It's the shots of colour that make it for me (who would've thought!). And I am now in lust with those barstools - must find them.

This is a charming little kitchen (found here). Great lights and vintage sign, loving the tiles and shelving too.

No surprise that I feature a Scandinavian kitchen! This is a cool apartment in Copenhgen,
you should see the rest of the apartment too - click here (when you've finished on my blog, of course!).
I really like the big bureau that acts a bit like an island bench, and also divides the kitchen space from the living area.

Beautiful Boudoirs

Here are a couple of happy spaces to lay your head. Using the painting as a headboard is a fantastic idea, and I am just so in love with bright sunshiny yellow.

The colours in this room are so pretty - it just makes me smile. A perfect spot for a cuppa and a good book.

When I featured some of the awesome Rice products recently, I had a great response, and because I love it so much I am going to stock some of their products in my Cush & Nooks online store. Have a look at the following images, and if anyone is genuinely interested in any of it, drop me an email, and I'll try to make sure I get the right colours etc.

Tove Mauritzson

Carrying on with my love of Scandinavian design, I'm very inspired by the home of the lovely Swedish artist, Tove Mauritzson. She obviously shares my love of colour and dogs, and I love her quirky sense of interior style.

The last image is of great interest to me, as I have just received my tin of gorgeous coloured chalk paint today. You can buy it from Hudson Paint, and it comes in a range of brilliant colours. I am set to paint a wall in our kitchen in Sweet 13, which is a bright pink (hubby really is very tolerant!), and then we're going to get a sign writer friend to create some chalk art, or maybe write up a favourite recipe.

Breaking Dawn Honeymoon Suite

OK, so we've waited... what is it, a year since the last Twilight movie? I know it's not everyone's cup of tea, but my friend, Jody, & I are sooo excited about going to see Breaking Dawn, part 1, tomorrow night. Forget all the vampire stuff, it's a love story with lots of action, and a few 'easy on the eye' guys to boot! But have you spied the honeymoon suite, from MASH Studios PCH series, being used yet? It's absolutely gorgeous... four poster canopy solid wood combined with white linen.
