It's hard to beat a lovely white bedspread. Add a Kantha throw and some bright pillows, like I have in our room, for an injection of colour; or keep your pillows white and throw over a soft gray cashmere blanket for a touch of subtle luxury. I adore what they've done in this bedroom. Some black pillows and a striking black feature wall really makes the white pop. Add a touch of silver and pink - ah, perfection!
I'm a lover of most patterns, and although I'm more of a 'stripes' girl, I am seriously crazy about all the gorgeous spots I've been seeing around. What are your thoughts on spots?
With my love of colour and geometrics, I was smitten when I came across this gorgeous lamp. It's called the Delta Table Lamp, and I found it in the fab online shop of The Cross Decor & Design. It comes in a range of funky colours, and will make a real statement on your side table.
As well as a beautiful range of soft furnishings, homeware, candles & ribbons, and an amazing selection of books, they also have some very stylish furniture. Based in Vancouver, co-owners Darci Ilich and Stephanie Vogler bring a luxurious European flavour to The Cross. Pop over to their blog for lots of interior inspiration.
Yes please, I could quite happily live here. With the parquet flooring in the dining room, the gorgeous tiles and little breakfast nook in the kitchen, the white walls and fab light fittings throughout... And why don't you throw in the beautiful rugs, the artwork, and maybe even that beat up old leather sofa too. Wonder if the kids will like living in Sweden!
I take a lot of my inspiration from nature. It's the best way to see what colours work together, and I am constantly in awe of her creations. All three of these gorgeous dresses reminded me of something...
I'm such a sucker for beautiful books, and I'm such a visual person - I like to drink things in with my eyes. So I've fallen pretty hard for this delightful little book called "Things We Love - Kate Spade New York". It's filled with gorgeous things that the Kate Spade in-house creative team have collected together for inspiration and put into this clutch-sized keepsake. It's like a book version of a mood board.
The bad news is... the article where I discovered this book was dated 2010, and I can't seem to find anywhere you can buy a copy now. The good news is... there is a new version due to be published in January 2013 featuring 20 years of inspiration, intriguing bits and other curiosities. I'm going to pre-order mine now!
My seven year old daughter was doing her spelling homework yesterday, and she has to write a sentence using each of her words. "What's 'sequin' Mum?" she asked. "Oh babe!", I replied, "Every girl needs to know about sequins! Hang on, I'll show you". I knew I had a gorgeous photo of a gold sequin top in one of my Pinterest folders. Her eyes lit up when I showed her, and then she wrote the sentence... "I really want a sequin top." :D As a typical girly girl, I love all things that glitter and sparkle, so in honour of Luca's homework I have gathered together a few gorgeous sparkly finds. I too really want a sequin top, and a sequin clutch, and most definitely that beautiful Michael Kors watch (I hope the present fairies are listening).
I've just been reading the latest issue of Heart Home, and what a cracker! Most definitely the highlight for me was the interview with Tricia Guild OBE, founder and creative director of Designers Guild. She is one of my idols, and provided me with my very first introduction to bright, vibrant colour and pattern in the world of interiors. I love her quote in the article... "People say you are what you eat, but I think you are what you see - being open to the world around you means you are open to inspiration". Pop over and see how she spends her day, and enjoy all the other goodness Heart Home has brought to us. Here is a little sneak peek...
