Christmas DIY Ideas

Right, now that we've had the December birthday parties, and the magazine photo shoot, I can focus on Christmas. Here are a few little DIY ideas that I love...

Personalise your champagne flutes: Leave those drink charms for the wine glasses! Instead, let your guests decorate their own flute with coloured Japanese Washi tape. It'll be easy to identify which belongs to each guest, and the tape peels off clean at the end of the night.

Mini Christmas Pom-Poms: All you need is some red & white bakers twine, a fork, and a pair of scissors. Wrap the twine around the fork until it starts to look round and full. Then, thread the end of the twine through the centre of your fork and tie it around the ball of twine. Finally, snip the loops and slide the ball off the fork. After a few fluffs you have a pom-pom for the top of your gift.

Make your own Advent Calendar: Wrap 24 little gifts in brown paper, and use some of your bakers twine to tie around them. Attach each gift to a wooden peg on a board or clipped to more twine. Decorate by glueing some patterned paper or fabric to a plain peg, or buy some ready-made.

Christmas Baubles: Purchase clear glass balls and fill with whatever you want. You could use different shaped beads, or try cutting strips of patterned paper, curling them and popping them into the balls.

  1. Hey Vic - some good ideas. I like the one where you fill the baubles for the tree. I am going to give that a try!!
