Slow Wood

I came across this beautiful furniture called Slow Wood. It's handmade in Fryslan, which, I believe, is north of the Netherlands (correct me if I'm wrong). I love the simple, clean lines of the furniture and a choice of coloured base. The Slow Wood philosophy is to create timeless pieces of quality furniture with a raw natural elegance and a low impact on our planet.
Even the paints used are ecological mineral paints obtained without any synthetic solvents or other irritant substances. To see and read more, click here.

The Home of Heather Nette King

During my online travels over the weekend I discovered an Australian interiors stylist who I have fallen in love with - Heather Nette King. She is my kind of girl, with her love of bold colour combinations and slightly quirky touches. I was so excited to find her.

It was her bedroom that first captivated me, with the amazing painting above the bed (I love the use of art in place of a headboard), and the little pink stool, and green vase of flowers. Beautiful bright colours against the white bedding. Her daughter's room has further inspired me for Jessie's bedroom makeover I am planning. And I am now on the hunt for a Bentwood bench, like the one in Heather's hallway.

Copenhagen Home

I want to start by thanking Tyreena Cook of Eco Baby Store, for putting me on to the
Dos Family blog. It's run by two Swedish sisters, Jenny & Isabelle, and they blog about things that inspire them... good looking sofas, flea market finds etc. Jenny is a gifted photographer, and she likes to photograph people's homes. Today I'm sharing one of those homes with you. Sine from Copenhagen, Denmark lives here with her two beautiful kids.
It's my kind of home, I especially love the kitchen. Enjoy x

Beautiful Bone Inlay

As a blogger I spend an incredible amount of time online being thrilled and inspired by the beautiful products and interiors out there. I remember the first time I saw a piece of bone inlay furniture in a Rue magazine article, it was one of those 'aha' moments - as in 'aha, that is so amazingly gorgeous, I must have one!'.

My 'aha' moment

And the reason I started the Cush & Nooks online store was to be able to provide other New Zealanders with all the beautiful products that I love, but that are not as easy to find in your local homewares store.

This console looks brilliant with the ghost chair

If you can't afford a piece of furniture yet, a tray would look spectacular on your coffee table

So I'm so excited to be able to show you the Cush & Nooks range of bone inlay furniture, new in the shop today. We have started with just a small range, and only one piece in each design, apart from the bedside table, which we have two of. We have kept one piece for ourselves (much to my delight), and I am just over the moon with my large blue chest of drawers.

Tiny in Tokyo

I'm going to take you on a tour of the tiniest apartment ever! It belongs to Tokyo local, Mari, and her lack of space hasn't stopped her from turning it into a cosy, lovely home. Because Mari has very little storage space, she has had to get inventive and uses lots of hooks & little shelves to store and display everything from pots to nailpolish.

Make wallpaper work for you

It's no secret that I love wallpaper, with all the beautiful colours and patterns available. We recently wallpapered our entranceway and now have some leftover paper. I've posted before about how you can use wallpaper, and here a few more examples...

Frame off cuts of your favourite wallpaper for easy & effective art

Cover your headboard, or draw the shape on the back of the paper and paste directly to the wall

Paper the inside of cupboards and shelves to add interest

Use complimentary patterns together
