Lofty Heights

This beautiful loft in Buckhead, Atlanta belongs to Elizabeth Hanson. It was one of those 'right time, right place' situations - Elizabeth stumbled across the construction site, and asked to look at the top floor unit. She loved it so much she decided to buy it completely empty - no flooring, no plumbing, no ductwork, nothing! It was a turning point in her life. With a degree in psychology, but working as a florist, she poured her creativity into designing and creating her new home - the most hectic four months of her life! With a lifetime love of interior design, it inspired her to go back to school, and while studying at the Art Institute of Atlanta was hired as an intern at Westbrook Interiors, where she now works fulltime.

After a busy day filled with design details, Elizabeth loves coming home to her loft. She has definitely achieved her goal to create a quiet, clean space, one that's unpretentious and relaxing. The challenge of open-plan living is to achieve an aesthetically integrated environment. Her simple colour palette of white, black and the natural warm tones of the wood and brick work to unify the space.

  1. Oh I do love a good success story! Elizabeth has managed to create such a warm and inviting space in rather industrial surroundings - I love the contrast of the brick and concrete finishes with the rich blonde wood floors and crisp white textiles! The bedroom is my favourite room...
