Colour, pattern and beautiful surroundings - that's my 'happy place'! A stunning piece of furniture or an amazing piece of art makes my heart beat a little bit faster. I think I can safely say that there is no shop in the country that encapsulates my style quite as perfectly as Republic Home in Ponsonby. With an eclectic mix of bold, contemporary, exotic products, sourced globally, this is the place to go if you want to add some magic to your home.
There are limited numbers of each products, so your chosen pieces will be fresh and unique. I was super excited to see that they have added the Ahoy Trader range by Australian artist, Jai Vasicek, to their shop. I fell in love with his Porthole art earlier this year.
Jai spent over 10 years of his childhood living on a boat, travelling the globe with his family. Influenced by his extensive sailing experiences, the range consists of mermaids and palm trees, flamingos, feathers and more. Each porthole is handmade in it's own plaster cast mould and has it's own uniques shape. The magical, colourful images are inspired by life, people, and travel, and will become an instant conversation piece in your home. I love each and every one of them, and I have a feeling our home might start to resemble a ship as I begin to collect my favourite portholes!
Jai's range of crosses are equally as powerful, and are a bold and beautiful take on religious imagery. Along with his beautiful decorative tiles, these are guaranteed to inject colour and culture into your home.
The perfect match to Jai's artwork is the range of Ourlieu cushions created by Lauri Elkins. Made from 100% organic cotton, and using more divine colour and pattern, these have been flying out the door at Republic Home, so pop in and check them out. If you can't see what you want on the website, drop them an email, they'll be happy to help you. And make sure you follow them on Facebook to keep with all the news.
September is a busy month for the team at Republic Home. This week is New Zealand Fashion Week, and Republic is kitting out the VIP Hosting Room in a 'match made in heaven' between fashion and furniture. The perfect place for weary fashionistas to kickback and enjoy a cocktail - sounds perfect! And Republic director, David Peez, thinks so too - "This is the perfect partnership, because like the fashion industry, we are constantly evolving and changing our furniture and homeware collections to stay on trend".
Then from September Wednesday 11 to Sunday 15, Republic will be showing their latest collections of furniture for the first time at the ASB Showgrounds, Greenlane for the Auckland Home Show 2013. If you're in Auckland makes sure you go to the show, or pop in to the Republic showroom on 3 Pompellier Terrace, Ponsonby - tell them I sent you ;)
