The Stitchsmith

I have always been a little bit in awe of crafty people. I love to draw and paint, but anything more three dimensional, like sewing or knitting, well... let's just say it's not my forte!
When Liz Smith, also known as The Stitchsmith, sent me some photos of some of her cushions recently, I was so impressed. The chevron design in various shades is gorgeous, and the clever thing is that these cushions are created by needlepoint.

You buy a needlepoint kit which includes a printed canvas, divine hand-dyed Strand yarn,
a colour guide, plus full instructions on how to stitch the design. You can choose between yellow, green, multi coloured, or teal chevron. The kits are suitable for beginners, as well as those of you with more experience. They are done in long stitch which is super fast and easy. You'll have your finished cushion in no time at all.

There are also instructions on the website of how to construct the cushion once you've finished the needlepoint.

Liz gets her inspiration from our beautiful New Zealand scenery, and there are many more designs available on her website. As well as the needlepoint kits, there are embroidery kits, ready-made cushions, and all the accessories you may need.

I think even I could manage one of these, and I know you will be brilliant at it. Go and see the full range for yourself, and don't muck around, because for a limited time there is FREE shipping on all needlepoint kits, domestic and international.

  1. Gosh they are works of art, I don't think I have seen anything quite like these and providing a kit is such a great idea.

  3. These are so cool. The multi-coloured chevron reminds me of a rug you featured a couple of months ago that I fell in love with. Might investigate further. Needlepoint is soooo easy and a great winter project. Saying that, it is YEARS since I have done any. Love these. R
