It got me thinking about another cool table I featured recently on my Facebook page that used an old door as a table top. I had people asking me where to get trestle legs so that they could create this look themselves. My suggestion was to scour the 2nd hand shops to try and find really great old rustic trestle legs, or get a carpenter to make some for you.
But there are other solutions as well. These pics following use Ikea trestle legs, caster wheels, vintage suitcases, and very large old table legs. Is anyone inspired yet? I would love to know (or see photos) of some cool DIY projects you have created.

Oh aren't the colours in the top pic so gorgeous? Our dining table is an old door taken from a French farmhouse, bought when we lived in London. Very rustic and fabulous to look at but I'd have to say, wholly impractical really! Trying to place dishes down the centre of the table - you know, with food and the like! - is tricky but we love it so much it will stay! Lovely pics as always thank Vic. A x.
ReplyDeleteOh those colours in the first pic grabbed me too! Old vintage tables are such a lovely find. I recently made hubby and one of my best girlfriends trek around a massive antique warehouse looking for a great vintage table but they are exactly the sort of thing you never find when you're specifically looking! I think you just stumble across treasures like that when you least expect it :)

I love the idea of turning an old door into a desk. It has so much character. Also love the vibrant colours and styling in the first image.
ReplyDeleteHey Vic, Blog is looking great. Quick question, do you know if IKEA ship to NZ or I wonder where we could find trestle legs like those black IKEA ones from here in our wee country?? Hope all is well. Amy @ Milo and Mitzy
ReplyDeleteHi Amy, I've just emailed you. Hopefully you still have the same address, you may have noticed that I've changed mine. xxx
DeleteHi Amy...and Vic! MyFlatpack in Auckland are importing Ikea goods here and deliver. They are lovely to deal with and their prices are really good considering exchange rates/freight/duties etc. Their website is www.myflatpack.co.nz. Annie x.
