I came across this sofa (below) yesterday, and it literally took my breath away! That is my dream sofa - the incredible shape and form, and the gorgeous grey velvet... yum! It's called Grand Piano Sofa/Chaise Longue and is by Scandinavian company, Gubi.
Gubi is a family business run by brothers, Jacob and Sebastian Olsen. It was founded in 1967 by the boys' parents, Gubi and Lisbeth. The dynamic company has made a name for itself in the international design arena. They have a passion for discovering overlooked icons from the past and future icons in the making. The result is an eclectic collection of furniture, lighting and accessories that blur the line between the past and the future. It's the simple, arresting shapes that I love. Each piece is so sculptural, so aesthetically beautiful!
Another example of the brothers' talent for spotting a diamond in the rough... they chose an old tobacco factory in Copenhagen's docklands to turn into their modern, expansive showroom loft. The rough surroundings outside make a sunning contrast to the style and luxury inside the showroom. Other firms working in architecture and design have since followed Gubi's lead and joined them in the area. Now, who wants to fill a container with Gubi products and bring it over to New Zealand for me?
Oh - WOW I love it all.
ReplyDeleteLooove the midnight blue couch, it would look totally amazing in a bachelors pad.
ReplyDeleteWhen I came across Gubi a while back, I had to write about them too. Absolutely exquisite. It's so nice to take another look and see new images. I didn't know that about the tobacco factory conversion - how cool. If anyone takes you up on the offer of a container load let me know! x
ReplyDeleteThese are divine Vic! And now I know the original source of one of the pics I posted on G&G today! :)

Yip, pretty sure I'd like to be in on the container load too! Amazing shapes and colours, love it all! Cheers, Talia :)
ReplyDeleteI totally agree with you, completely took my breath away! The beautiful shapes, combined with those colours and the soft velvet fabric is pure perfection! Thanks for another wonderful introduction!
ReplyDeleteI absolutely love the sofa too. I also like the little white table with the latticed look pedestal, I think it would be perfect for my limited space.
ReplyDeleteI went to bed dreaming "grey" last night. I had been to see a friends renovation, she had used a very pale grey throughout the whole house and it was stunning! She also had an oversized padded headboard in her bedroom which I am now thinking of replacing my shutters with.
I don't think I will ever have this little house how I want it, I seem to be getting closer to taking the plunge to build a new home and have everything the exactly how I want it.
Btw,I signed up for emails again from a different address and your updates are arriving now thankfully :)
