Dael & I are really lucky to have met some awesome people in our Bibby + Brady job. This gorgeous, super-relaxed couple - Sarah and Roger, and beautiful baby Stella - have recently relocated to Mount Maunganui. Having moved all previously owned furniture to their holiday home, they were starting with a very blank canvas, and asked for our help with paint, fabric and furniture choices.
Mount Maunganui is one of my favourite places. With a permanent beachy, holiday vibe it seems the perfect fit for the young laid-back family. We wanted to reflect that and create a fun and welcoming, as well as functional home.
The walls were brightened up with a soft white, Resene Half Bianca, and new carpet was laid. Fresh blue and white roman blinds compliment the blue velvet sofa, and the old dining room light was replaced with a stunning brass pendant.
It wasn't in the budget to totally redo the kitchen, which was in pretty good knick. Having the cabinetry re-painted a sunshiny bright yellow gave it a new lease on life. More new blinds and some cute wall shelves were also added.
At the end of the kitchen an empty space was an ideal spot for a kitchen nook. Roger proved to be extremely handy and built the bench seating himself (the seat cushions are being upholstered as we speak). Replica Wishbone chairs in fun colours complete the setting.
It was fantastic to get to visit Sarah and Roger recently, and see how their home has transformed. All our work has been done via email and phone, so we're so impressed at how hard these guys have worked to turn our vision into a reality. If you have an interior space you'd like us to help you with, whether it's residential or commercial, we would love to hear from you.

ReplyDeleteGlad you like it Fiona. Looking forward to transforming your home too. ;) x
DeleteOMG! it's beautiful! I want my place to look like this! Awesome job! and well done to your clients choosing you guys!
ReplyDeleteThanks lovely Jodie. Sarah and Roger have worked really hard, so hats off to them. x
DeleteGreat blog - any idea what process they followed in painting their kitchen cabinets? Is it as simple as just painting over the old laminate?
ReplyDeleteThanks Adam. My recommendation is to get the professional spray painters to do it for you. They'll remove the cupboards, handles etc, and take it to their workshop. I'm pretty sure they use a special base coat over the laminate. Good luck.
DeleteLove the lights over the dining table and kitchen nook. Can you tell us where you got them? Thanks!
ReplyDeleteWe love them too Lauren. The Basketweave light in the kitchen nook is from Freedom. The gorgeous copper pendant over the dining room table was from an Australian supplier of ours - Lightly. Get in touch if you'd like help ordering. x
DeleteGorgeous home, it looks so welcoming & I'm totally in love with that blue velvet couch!
ReplyDeleteMe too Kim, I really want that in my home! :) x
DeleteBlue velvet couch!!! Where is it from? Please!
ReplyDeleteHi Sarah. It's from one of our suppliers - The Design Depot, located in Hamilton. Again, you can order most of the items shown through Bibby + Brady, and we'll pass on trade discounts when we can. x
DeleteI so wish you were Auckland based !
ReplyDeleteHi Steph, we're based in Napier, but we've worked with several Auckland clients before. This home in Mt Maunganui was designed by us here in Napier all with the help of photos and measurements emailed to us, and phone calls to Sarah. We could help you too, you should email me. x
DeleteLove this fresh result! And that couch AMAZING.
ReplyDeleteThanks Kym, we love it too, and the couch is amazing! x
DeleteCongrats all around! Looks fantastic. xo
ReplyDeleteThanks Rachel :) x
DeleteHi, we are really taken with the multi coloured buffet behind the blue sofa. Can you please tell me where it came from. Thanks.
ReplyDeleteHi Cath, yes, we love that piece too. It's from one of our main furniture suppliers, but they only deal with trade, so drop me an email - vic@bibbyandbrady.co.nz - and I'll send you the details. x
